World Vision

In 2010, our Board of Directors voted to make World Vision the national philanthropy of Sigma Phi Lambda. We are excited to partner with such an amazing organization in order to extend the impact that Phi Lamb has on the world. The board chose World Vision because they are involved in so many different types of ministry in the U.S. and in nearly 100 countries around the world, and we wanted each chapter to be able to get involved in a way that best fits with the heart of their members.

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Motivated by faith in Jesus Christ, World Vision serves alongside the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. They do this by demonstrating God’s unconditional love for all people through our service to the poor — which includes providing for daily needs, working to build peace and promote justice, and partnering with churches and individuals to encourage spiritual transformation.

Our Chapter

Our chapter here at Ole Miss has done multiple events to help raise money for World Vision over the past several years. Some of our past events have been the 30 Hour Famine through World Vision, Sticker Fundraisers, and a 6K fundraiser to raise awareness that we try to participate in every year. All of the proceeds raised in all of these fundraisers go straight to World Vision to help support those in need around the world.

Our other main focus in helping World Vision is just to bring awareness to those around us about the less fortunate in need. Many times we are stuck in a bubble in our own worlds, so as a chapter we try to reach out and remind ourselves of others who need our help and who need the word/hope of God spoken to them. Our chapter tries to do at least one philanthropy event with World Vision a semester.
